Brief Job Description:
The Dietetic Internship Director is responsible for the overall management including day-to-day implementation of the post-baccalaureate Texas WIC dietetic internship program. The program director leads the assessment, planning and evaluation of the dietetic internship to meet the requirements set by the Accreditation Council in Education for Nutrition and Dietetics Education (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). Identifies program needs and implements changes to ensure adherence to established guidelines and policies.
Performs highly advanced (senior-level) consultative and technical assistance work. Work involves overseeing agency educational program, including planning, development, and implementation and evaluation. Develops policies, procedures and manuals for the Dietetic Internship Program. Responsible for the program's budget and tracking contracts. Trains, schedules, assigns, and/or prioritizes the work of others. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
Oversees the planning, development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Texas WIC dietetic internship program, including curriculum and manual development, intern recruitment, training, evaluation and advising. Ensures compliance with ACEND required standards, and ensuring that outcome assessment standards are continually monitored, evaluated and updated. Prepares and evaluates program budget requests and oversees dietetic internship contracts and Memorandums of Agreement (MOA). Plans, assigns and supervises the work of others related to the dietetic internship. (40%)
Oversees the completion and monitoring of required performance reports, and recommends appropriate changes, including all ACEND required reports, communications, self-studies, and pass-rate performance plans. Maintenance of the program's records and submission of required documentation to the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) regarding interns' eligibility for the credentialing exam. (20%)
Consults with public and private agencies involved in the program to resolve problems, identify training needs, and discuss program effectiveness including preceptors, WIC directors, other internship program directors, and interns. Analyzes program functions and operations, and prepares reports of findings and recommendations to produce a more effective program, improve the program, and/or address areas of concern. Documents and reviews policies, procedures, manuals, standards, and plans in accordance with program objectives and goals. Provides guidance to agencies and internal staff in the development and integration of new methods and procedures related to the dietetic internship. (15%)
Coordinates surveys, reviews, and program monitoring activities to determine compliance with requirements, laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, and recommends corrective action as needed, including intern, preceptor, employer, external and internal constituents. Evaluates and makes program and curriculum changes reflecting the results of feedback. Coordinates the collection, organization, analyses, and preparation of materials in response to requests for program information and reports, including HHSC, WIC and ACEND requests for updates and program achievements. (10%)
Coordinates with and speaks to professional groups to coordinate, improve and stimulate interest in the program and to secure support for programs, including undergraduates and graduate dietetic programs, WIC Directors, WIC employees and the general public. Answers all program information requests on a timely basis. (10%)
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activations. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. (5%)

Write RFP's and contract scopes, including budget information.
Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications:
Registered Dietitian
Initial Screening Criteria:
- Experience in the last 5 years in training, teaching or staff development.
- Experience developing curriculum.
- Experience overseeing or managing an educational program.
- Experience overseeing contracts.
- Masters of Science in dietetics, nutrition or public health or a graduate degree in a related or complementary field with completion of an ACEND-accredited program.
- Experience mentoring and precepting dietetic interns, preferred.
- WIC experience, preferred.
