This supervisory level position is located at Austin State Hospital warehouse, but Supply Services also serves patients/residents at 22 other facilities around the State, so there are opportunities for growth and movement to other parts of Texas if desired. The Health and Specialty Care System Inventory and Store Specialist V (Warehouse Supervisor) is a key position for Supply Services with essential functions offering opportunities to gain experience related to using modern receiving software systems, warehouse equipment and the logistics to assure the patients/residents served are supplied needed supplies for daily living. This position oversees and performs logistical, inventory and warehouse work to include putting away goods, rotating stock, pulling orders from inventory stock bins, and delivering goods at multiple assigned state facilities. This position is required to hire, maintain, and monitor timekeeping, complete evaluations, process retirements, resignations, and terminations for assigned staff utilizing the CAPPS personnel management system. Work involves coordinating warehouse operations and training staff at an assigned state facility and at times a partner location. Maintains security of state property and warehouse stock inventory. Completes replenishment process, creating orders using online vendor software and receipting for vendors to be paid in a timely manner. Ensure warehouse operations are in compliance with established procedures, and approves travel using the e-travel system. Works under minimal supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Must actively participate and/or serve in a Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation as warehouses must maintain a level of full operational capabilities, regardless of disaster declaration, weather, or other serious impediments to operation. Supply Services warehouses operate in a safe yet quick moving, effective and efficient environment! This is a physically active position where creativity, strength and discipline are important factors to assist with the heavy physical work involved. While the main focus of this position is movement of supplies, this position will also be cross trained to learn new and exciting skills including using the newest up-to-date receiving software systems, handheld devices for inventory control and warehouse equipment.
