The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. Compiles Daily Population; when a Person is to be transferred or community placed, prepares pre-placement packets which are sent to receiving home/facility; inputs data into IRIS/CARE  systems; upon request, researches records in response to requests for information; enters data into the Abilene State Supported Living Center (AbSSLC) data base; prints reports from the Distributive Print System and distributes the reports to the appropriate department; Maintains Master Record on each Individual living at AbSSLC; and protects confidentiality of Individuals currently living at AbSSLC and Individuals who have lived at AbSSLC in the past; gathers information and completes required forms for Individual to take to DPS to get their Texas ID Card; gathers information and completes required forms for Individual to take to Social Security Department to obtain replacement social security card; updates the addresses and phone numbers in the AbSSLC Mail Merge used to address letters/envelopes for mass mail outs to guardians/next-of-kin.  Completion of work requires use of established methods and/or techniques and decisions are varied and based on well-defined guidelines.  The Clerk I works under the immediate supervision of the Records Coordinator.  The Clerk I has no one under his or her supervision but is responsible for taking care of his or her equipment.

 

Essential Job Functions (EJFs):

 

  • Attends work on a consistently regular basis.
  • Answers phone promptly and routes calls without delay, if provider not available, takes message accurately and promptly and gets message to Provider.
  • Compiles Daily Population.
  • When Individual transferred or community placed, prepares pre-placement packets which are sent to receiving home/facility.
  • Inputs data into IRIS/CARE systems.
  • Research records in response to requests for information.
  • Enters data into the Abilene State Supported Living Center (AbSSLC) database.
  • Prints reports from the Distributive Print System and distributes the reports to the appropriate department.
  • Maintains Master Record on each Individual living at AbSSLC; and protects confidentiality of Individuals currently living at AbSSLC and Individuals who have lived at AbSSLC in the past.
  • Gathers information and completes required forms for Individual to take to DPS to get their Texas ID Card.

Other duties as assigned by supervisor which may include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation.  Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.

Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications:

 

None

 

Initial Screening Criteria:

 

Education equivalent to a high school degree is required.

 

At least two years of paid work experience in a clerical position which included using a computer for word processing, spreadsheets, or data entry.

 

Additional Information:

 

Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).

 

Males between the ages of 18 – 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.

 

All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.

 

Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
