The Pharmacy Technician I performs complex (journey-level) pharmaceutical assistance duties. Work involves performing pharmacy stock keeping, delivery, technical assistance, and clerical duties. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. The Pharmacy Tech I is responsible for adhering to standards of professional, legal and ethical practice and all applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures and/or guidelines of the hospital, HHSC and Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP). Acts as a liaison between the public and the pharmacist(s), communicates with third party providers to determine eligibility and obtain prior authorizations, and operates a point of sale system, including credit card, personal check or cash payments. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment within the boundaries allowed by the Texas State Board of Pharmacy.
