The LVN III works under the direct supervision of an RN, to provide for the care, treatment, & general welfare of patients. Responsibilities include: medication transcription & administration, performance of focused nursing assessment for the comprehensive care, treatment, and general welfare of patients, documentation of comprehensive information concerning pt., observing and reporting significant observations related to patient's mental/physical condition, maintaining accountability for medications, assigned medication room, and the security of assigned unit keys, providing comprehensive pt./family education, implementing a complex nursing care plan, supporting hospital safety, risk management and infection control programs, and restraint and seclusion reduction strategies, maintaining competency, serving as a mentor and preceptor for other less experienced LVNs, mgmt. of the unit in the absence of the RN, & attending work as scheduled. Develops and/or implements educational in-service & quality assurance programs to improve pt. care. Completion of work requires moderate supervision with significant latitude for the use of initiative & independent judgment. Performs routine pt. care in order to assist in providing quality psychiatric services. Assists in establishing and maintaining an environment that is therapeutic for persons with mental illness. Must understand that duties, location of work and shift/pattern are subject to change as determined by the administration to meet the needs of the hospital.
