Clerk I - The Clerk I performs all clerical and bookkeeping tasks for the department and ensures the completion and accuracy of all Food Service timekeeping records and employee folders. The Clerk I work under the direct supervision of the Food Service Director. Completion of work requires occasionally originating new methods and/or techniques and decisions are varied but based on well-defined guidelines. The Clerk I has no financial responsibility and is not accountable for any assigned property.
Essential Job Functions (EJFs):
Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.
Generates orders for food, janitorial, and office supplies using appropriate computer programs to ensure proper amounts of food, janitorial, and office supplies are on hand to meet department needs.
Employee training supervisor who ensures all food service staff are current, up to date on all mandatory training, assign new employees with initial food service training and maintain compliance status as per CCSSLC policy requirements. Update training rosters with department and CTD.
Prepares department yearly work schedules and updates monthly employee schedules, daily sign-in logs to ensure they are current and up to date at all times.
Records accurate frozen and reservoir inventory data to ensure proper amounts of food and supplies are ordered.
Other duties as assigned include but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agency's obligations due to staff shortages, disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
Ability to operate standard office equipment.
Knowledge of Food Service Safety practices.
Must be able to type 40 wpm accurately.
Abides by all policies, procedures, and training objectives relating to safety and
Ability to stand for prolonged periods (up to 3.5 hours) every 4 hours.
Able to lift 15 to 44 lbs. 20 times per 8-hour shift
Knowledge of Human Resource Policies and Procedures.
Knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel.
Texas Driver's License with less than 10 points
Able to accurately record and relay telephone messages at all times.
Able to compile a Food Service Accounting Report from accounting records and reports.
Successfully complete all SUR training as prescribed by Human Resource Development.
Follows CCSSLC and Food Service department Policy and Procedures at all times.
Interacts with individuals residing on campus in an emotionally supportive and therapeutic manner.
Adheres to department dress code and hygiene standards.
Shows a pattern of successful and cooperative interactions with others.
Completes job tasks within agreed time frames. Promote infection control in order to provide a safe and healthy work environment.
Registrations, Licensure Requirements or Certifications:
Must possess valid Texas driver's license or obtain it no later than 90 days after hire date. Applicants with an out-of-state driver's license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure. Eligible driving record required based on HHSC Fleet Management policy.
Initial Screening Criteria:
Graduation from high school or GED.
At least two (2) years in a clerical position.
Experience using Microsoft, Word, Excel and Outlook.
Food service knowledge and understanding preferred.
Additional Information:
Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks including the Client Abuse/Neglect Reporting System (CANRS), Nurse Aide, Medication Aide and Employee Misconduct and HHS List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE).
Males between the ages of 18 – 25 must be registered with the Selective Service.
All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.
Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position. The position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
